All my impressions of America and Americans and some videos of various bits of life around the festival. If you get asked to go,,.. go.. (along with the people.... the weather was great, the food, superb... the organic store down the road, Yum.)

.....My vocal music is akin to "Rounds" an ancient form of singing.... although only one person makes the music and due to the technology, many vocal variations and experimentations are possible.

How did i begin this Journey? ...In October 2005 I was at an all-night marathon recording session with 20 or so songwriters and players who wanted to create as much music from scratch as they possibly could in the longest day of the year, when the clocks go forward, so 25 hours. I picked up a mic, hooked up to a couple of delays and the first piece was recorded. It was an improv. between myself and Steve Finnerty of Alabama 3 and was called Work4Me.

I quite quickly became aware that after decades of experimenting with different music making, this live-looping work contained all the qualities and possibilities of expression I had wanted to concentrate on. Six years in... and I still love this form of work, the variation of musical learning with it keeps me interested: You can go deep into learning a difficult piece such as "Pythagoras" or have the freedom and lightness of improvisational work...
