Drains of the Underworld was written by myself and Jason Mayo in 1998. I had moved my studio into the upstairs space of Jason’s music studio in The Grand Union Centre, London in 1998-9. We worked together on this piece. Jason wrote most of the rhythmic lines and the overall composition of the piece and i composed most of the more unusual sounds.
It was chosen to accompany a walk through of a Gavin Turk exhibition, in the days before YouTube, and was uploaded to David Bowie’s Bowieart.net website by Bowie’s website designer, Tim Corkerton. (Bowie actually listened to it and ok’ed it for the website… he’s definitely one of my heroes, so this was just so amazing for me!)
