The second of 6 remixes of a lengthy (over one hour) improvisation around on ‘Frere Jaques’. Inspired by Mahler’s symphonic version i sing in the minor key not the major key.
Track 2 begins quite literally, with mostly vocal lines multitracked and a drone element arrives and fades by 5 minutes. the layered tracks shimmer interweaving, bring to the fore many points where the song concentrates on new small elements of the nursery rhyme, the original recording picks apart the 4 different vocal lines, focussing in, overlaying and harmonising. Because it is a round all the vocals work together.. later in the track, shorter motifs are repeated in double time. Towards the end some nonverbal vocal melodies that are distinct from all the others gently fade into view and bring the piece to a close.
This is a collaboration between myself , Moody Al and Knopfdreher.
